941,334. Making wafer sandwiches. BAKER PERKINS HOLDINGS Ltd. Aug. 28, 1962 [June 7, 1961], No. 20597/61. Heading A2A. In plant for making wafer sandwiches by building them up stepwise a series of baking ovens 10, 12 &c. and interposed cream spreaders 11 &c. are arranged in tandem, and wafers from the first oven 10 are delivered by synchronized tilting trays 19, 21 on to a receiving conveyer 23 equipped with spaced wafer pushers 22, for transference to a slower moving creaming band 24 in which they are creamed in juxtaposition by a hopper/roller creaming device 11. They then pass on to a faster moving separating band 29 before being taken up by the pushers 22 of the receiving conveyer located beneath the next wafer baking oven 12 and so on. At each side of the junction between bands 24, 29 a pair of tandem rollers (not shown) may be provided to affect separation of the creamed wafers by engaging their side edges, the leading roller of each pair rotating faster than the trailing roller. Each tray 21 consists of two laterally spaced sections between which the pushers 22 pass to pick the wafer sheets 20 in succession from it. Wafer sandwiches leaving the last oven pan via a rollercompactor to a cooling unit. Specification 702,563 is referred to.
