A dielectric heating arrangement for baking bread or cakes comprises a conveyer 14 formed of insulating material which carries the bread or cake mixture 12, in containers 10 formed of insulating material, between two plate electrodes 16, 17 which are positioned one on each side of the conveying path and connected to an R.F. generator 30. The connection from plate 16 to the generator includes a variable capacitor formed by a fixed plate 18 and a vertically adjustable plate 20. Specification 877,014 is referred to.
