[Also in Group XL (b)] A voltage t1 (Fig. 1) proportional to the weight of radioactive ores carried by a conveyer belt 1 is derived via a rectifier 20 from a transformer 19 the current through the primary of which is determined by the position in an inductance 18, connected in series with the transformer primary, of a magnetic core 17 attached to a deflectable platform 14 across which the conveyer belt travels. This voltage is then utilized in . circuit 7 to adjust the'threshold value at which an electrically operated flap 3 directs the ore into one or other of shoots 5, 6 in accordance with the value of a voltage t2 proportional to the radio-activity of the separated ore in container 9.
