Abstract
939,332. Hinges and pivots. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Dec. 29, 1961 [Jan. 25, 1961], No. 46711/61. Class 65 (2). [Also in Groups XIII and XXIX] A tank is provided with a number of supports (see Group XXIX) which maintain it at a constant height despite dimensional changes in the supports due to changes of temperature (see Group XIII). The base of each support is bolted to an anchor-plate set in a concrete base (not shown here) and its top end carries on a screwed spigot a stirrup 4 forming part of a universal coupling which is bolted to the bottom 1 of the tank 2. The stirrup 4 is pivotally mounted on a shaft 5 centred in bushes 6 in a cardan frame 7 which has two trunnions 8 at right-angles to the shaft 5. Each trunnion carries a solepiece 9 with a friction-plate 10 which slides on a friction plate 11 bolted to the tank. Each support is located in the bore of a flange 13 on the tank by a knuckle 12 on the stirrup 4.
