Abstract
939,253. Making cartons; packaging machines. CARTONMASTER (DISTRIBUTORS) Ltd., and E. J. E. POWELL. July 27, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1959], No. 19974/59. Classes 18 and 94(1). Cartons may be made and filled and capped continuously by printing, laminating, glueing and blanking-out material from two reels, forming the blanks and fitting an end closure and passing the cartons to a filling machine 21 and then to a capping machine 23, the sealed cartons being subsequently delivered by a conveyer. Either or all the stages of printing, glueing and laminating may be carried out separately prior to cutting out the blank. The carton may be formed of white cartridge paper, alternatively plain paper subsequently sprayed or dipped or otherwise treated may be used. In a modification, the paperboard may be supplied already laminated or treated. The caps and end closures are heat sealed to the carton bodies and the cartons are ultra-violetirradiated before passing to the filling machine.
