Abstract

939,130. Bearings. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Sept. 6, 1962 [Sept. 7, 1961], No. 34174/62. Class 12 (1). A bearing having a sleeve of porous material, such as sintered metal containing lubricant, has the running zone on a shaft limited in the axial direction by annular shoulders, said running zone is also retained within the bearing surface which is at least as long as the running zone. In an embodiment, a shaft 3, Fig. 1, is mounted in a housing 2 having a sleeve 1 of porous material therein. A running zone 4 is limited by annular shoulders 5 on the shaft 3 and is retained within a bearing surface 6. In another embodiment, limiting shoulders 13, Fig. 2, are formed on a shaft 12 by grooves 14. In a further embodiment, a race-ring 22, Fig. 3, having grooves 25 therein is mounted on a shaft 21. The outer side walls 26 of the grooves 25, together with annular shoulders 27 on the ring 22, define two annular zones 28, the outer edges 30 of which extend to the ends 31 of the bearing surface 29. The annular zones 28 help to prevent the ingress of foreign matter to the bearing. Felt pads 32 supply additional lubricant.
