938,974. Advancing mine roof supports. STAMICARBON N.V. May 17, 1961 [May 17, 1960], No. 18005/61. Class 20 (2). An advancing mine roof support comprises a telescopic hydraulic prop 1, 2 having roof and sole plates 3, 3<SP>1</SP> incorporating elastically deformable strips 5 bonded to seven steel strips 7 provided with bits 8. Each strip 5 is composed of two layers of rubber with a steel strip 6 therebetween and is individually advanced by an associated piston and cylinder unit 10, 14 acting through a pivoted lever 17. The piston and cylinder units may be pivotally or directly connected to the strips 7, see Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), respectively. Two such supports may be interconnected to form a frame (see Fig. 5, not shown).
