938,884. Mechanical garages. ESPROGA SOCIEDAD LIMITADA. Feb. 9, 1960, No. 4489/60. Class 78 (4). A lift tower 1 in a mechanical garage is of polygonal section and is mounted at its lower end for rotation in a circular shaft so that it can give access to parking bays 3 disposed radially on each of several floors. The tower contacts the walls of the shaft only along the vertical edges of the tower, if at all. In the form shown, the tower is supported from a central bearing 4 and by tapered rollers 16 from rails 17. The tower is rotated by a worm and wheel 6, 7. The lift platform 9 is rectangular with extensions 10 forming bridges between the lift platform and the parking spaces. The lift tower may be formed of prefabricated stages, so that its height can readily be increased. The tower may be received in a well, as shown, to give access from the upper floor, or a tower mounted on the surface may be reached from the lower floor, or the tower may be partly received in a well so that access is by an intermediate floor.
