[Also in Group XXIX] A poultry waterer comprises a watering trough 1 on which is mounted a filling valve 15 connected to a supply pipe 39 which allows vertical movement of the mounted valve, this valve including a pivoted operating member 4 spring-biased in a valveopening direction, the device being suspended from a first support member 5 attached to the pivoted operating member and a second support member 6 attached to the trough at a point spaced horizontally from the valve, so that the combined weight of the trough and water closes the valve in opposition to the spring 3. As shown, the valve comprises two gravity loaded valve members 20, 22 connected together through a seat opening 18 and co-operating with respective seats on opposite sides of this opening. The lower valve member 22 controls the normal supply in response to the weight of water in the trough whilst the upper valve member 20 acts as a safety or cut-off valve which closes under the fluid pressure if the weight of the waterer is removed. The spring loading is adjustable manually by a knob 32 carrying a pinion 33 on a racked portion 34 of the operating member 4 to move the spring anchorage.
