Abstract
937,839. Louvres for light fittings. H. HELMHOLZ. Feb. 20, 1962, No. 6617/62. Class 75 (4). A louvre arrangement for a lighting fitting comprises a series of strips bent transversely to regular corrugated shape and disposed face-toface so as to define continuous channels between adjacent strips. The strips 13-16, Fig. 1, may be of metallic, vitreous, plastic or paper-like material and may be sinuous with the troughs 13b, 14b, 15b of successive strips in register, producing channels of uniform width. Preferably the troughs of one strip, e.g. 13b, are in a common plane with the crests, 14a, of the next strip. The strips are arranged in a rectangular frame 10 and extend in the direction of the length of a pair of fluorescent lamps 11a, 11b in a housing above the frame. The amplitude of the corrugations may be greater, in which case the width of the channels between the strips is non-uniform. In a modification the strips may consist of a series of flat surfaces alternately at +45 and - 45 degrees to the side of the frame. Flat surfaces parallel to the side of the frame may be interposed between the inclined surfaces. The planes of the face of the strips may also be inclined to the vertical as shown in Fig. 9.
