Abstract

937,375. Knitting. F. W. SELLORS Ltd., and R. V. SELLORS. Jan. 2, 1961 [Jan. 12, 1960], No. 1105/60. Class 74 (2). A single fabric welt for a circularly knitted hose or half hose has an anti-roll band at the top incorporating both plain and tuck stitches with the additional advantage of resisting laddering in a downward direction. The welt shown in Fig. 1 comprises a main Section A immediately adjoined by anti-roll band B and surmounted by picot Section C. Section A is plain knitted with plain nylon yarn and Section B comprises alternate courses of plain loops 2 and intermediate courses 3 of 1 x 1 tuck and plain stitches knitted with crepe or bulked nylon yarn. Section C comprises courses of 3 x 1 plain and tuck stitches with eight accumulated tuck loops at 4 producing pronounced tongues of fabric 5 between spaces 6. Alternative construction of tongues 5 comprises alternate courses of three plain loops with intermediate courses of one tuck loop flanked by a plain loop on either side. Anti-roll band B may also be knitted entirely of 1 x 1 tuck or, alternatively, of 3 x 1 micro mesh, with the tuck stitch displaced laterally, 1 wale each successive course.
