Abstract
937,198. Objective mount; focusing. M. C. SCHNEIDER, and H. J. SCHNEIDER, [trading as JOS. SCHNEIDER & CO., OPTISCHE WERKE]. Dec. 15, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1960], No. 44976/61. Class 97 (1). Objective mount comprises on one hand hand and power controls for moving a lens axially in relation to another lens and on the other hand means for causing the power control to be uncoupled when the hand control is coupled up and vice versa. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 lenses 3, 3a are movably mounted in a rotatable tubular holder 2, and are guided by slots 2a, 2b. A focal length scale 19 is provided on tube 2. The tube is rotatable either manually by means of a handle 9 on a ring 10 which engages the tube or by a motor 4 connected by gears to a wheel 7 rotatable on tube 2. In the position shown, wheel 7 is coupled to tube 2 by a spring 8a in the tube engaging slot 7a on the wheel. Ring 10 is locked in an inoperative position by means of a slot 16 thereon engaging a pin 17 in another stationary tube 1. When ring 10 is moved axially so that groove 12 engages ball detent 13 it is unlocked from pin 17 and depresses spring 8a so that it no longer engages slot 7a and tube 2 can be rotated manually. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 tube 2 may be operated manually by means of knob 25 and gears 24, 23 or through friction coupling 36, 7b by means of a motor. Part 35 of the coupling is slidable by means of cam 26a on an inner pin of knob 25. Knob 25 is movable between two positions determined by notches 31, 32 so that either the motor or the knob 25 may be coupled to lens tube 2.
