Abstract
936,914. Reservoir pens. E. J. J. HENRIKSEN. Feb. 11, 1960 [Feb. 12, 1959], No. 4874/60. Class 146 (3). An ink reservoir 1 for a ballpoint pen contains a column 2 of glycol-based writing ink, and a follower-plug 4 of an oil-based ink slidable along the wall of the reservoir in contact with one end of the column 2. Where the inside diameter of the reservoir is large, the ink used for the plug 4 may be thickened by adding a metallic soap, and a solid pistonlike core of polystyrene may be placed within the ink plug mass. The consistency of the plug 4 must be such that the substance of the plug can be fed to the ball point 3 and transferred by the ball to the writing surface.
