Abstract

936,865. Machinery guards. H. FROST & CO. Ltd. July 9, 1962 [July 7, 1961], No. 24587/61. Class 80 (4). A guard for attachment to an electric fan comprises front and rear rings 2, 1 (Fig. 2), interconnected by curved wire loops 3 bent to form double spokes 6 (Fig. 9), the loops 3 having front and rear bridges 7, 8 detachably held as a push-fit in channels or pockets in the rings 2, 1 by a detachable notched retaining ring 14 sprung into notches 9 in the loops 3. As shown, the rings 1, 2 are made of U-section metal strip joined as by a plate 5, Fig. 1. A wire ring 10 bent to castellated form is seated in the front ring 2 to space the loops 3 circumferentially. The ring 2 also has secured thereto arms 12 supporting a disc or medallion 11. Each loop 3 may be formed by butt-welding the ends of a length of wire. The ring 1 may be attached to a fan body by screws or by engagement with the slotted outer ends of radial arms thereon.
