Abstract
936,830. Differential gear. W. E. SALZMANN. Jan. 20, 1960 [Jan. 20, 1959; Sept. 14, 1959], No. 2003/60. Class 80 (2). A tractor differential locking arrangement comprises a series of pins 11 passing through holes in the gear casing 5 and movable by a carrier ring 12 to engage their ends within apertures 14 in the bevel pinion 15. The ends of the pins may be tapered or conical and the apertures 14 correspondingly shaped, so that disengagement occurs upon overload. The ring 12 is mounted on a pivoted yoke 20 operated by the depression of a pedal 22 acting through a spring ring 29 and an edge cam 27, and the pedal lever may incorporate a spring detent device acting as an overload release, Fig. 5 (not shown).
