Abstract

1,246,455. Latches. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 25 Oct., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967], No. 50829/ 68. Heading E2A. [Also in Division G2] An apparatus comprises a latch for a handle, the latch consisting of a press button 20 operated shaft portion 40 which engages in a bore in a shaft 26 on a support member 22 and which has lug members 42, 44 which are urged by a spring 30 to engage in recesses 52, 54 in the periphery of an aperture 46 in a cover member 24 and in recesses 34, 36 in one section 16 of the two sectioned handle. To release the handle, the press button 20 is pressed to disengage the lugs 42, 44 on the shaft portion from the peripheral recesses 52, 54, the handle is then rotated thereby causing the lug members to ride over raised elements 48, 50 between the recesses thereafter to reengage in the recesses 52, 54. The handle sections 14, 16 are separately rotatable from a latched position after actuating a release button 18. The apparatus may be a camera and the handle may comprise a battery compartment as one section.
