Abstract

936,484. Loading - ramps. INTERNATIONAL MACGREGOR ORGANIZATION. May 25, 1960 [May 25, 1959], No. 18512/60. Class 78 (4). A ramp 4, Fig. 1, up which vehicles 3 or other goods are loaded into a ship 10, or other enclosed space, has rollers 11, 12 which cooperate with guides 14, 15 as the ramp is urged from a stowed position within the ship or space to an operative position. A motor 18 moves the ramp through driving chains 19, 21. Ramps may be provided on either one or both sides of the ship and either fore and/or aft. A limitswitch 16, Fig. 3, arrests the ramp in the position shown by switching-off the motor 18 if the lower end 13 is not touching the ground. If the end 13 touches the ground before the roller 12 decends to and operates the switch 16 the ramp is moved fully out until the rollers 11 come to rest as shown in Fig. 1. The loaded goods may be lowered into the hold by a lift 8.
