Abstract
936,445. Percussive drills. ATLAS COPCO A.B. June 18, 1962 [June 21, 1961; Oct. 24, 1961], No. 23362/62. Class 124. A rig for a percussive rock drill 49 comprises a movable frame 20, means 22 on the frame for engaging the ground or rails thereon, an elongated feed-bar 48 providing a support for the rock drill and being mounted on a pair of transverse supports 28 displacably mounted on a pair of standards 26, and means for raising or lowering the transverse supports in unison along the standards. The transverse supports, which are mounted on sleeves 27, are raised and lowered, via a chain-and-sprocket drive 36, 39, 40, 42, 43, by means of a gear unit 41 rotated either manually or by an electric motor; the sleeves are connected together by a bar 35, and when the desired height is obtained, rest on pins 45 located in an appropriate hole 46. As shown in Fig. 7, three feed bars 48 each carrying a rock drill 49 are located on the supports 28; the ends 30, 32 of the supports are hinged at 33 in order to facilitate movement of the rig in narrow tunnels. The rock drill 49 is mounted in a cradle 58 which is connected to the cylinder 59 of a fluid-pressure operated ram, the piston end having a foot-piece 60 thrusting against a particular rung 51 secured to the feed bar. The drill 55 is guided in a bracket 52 mounted on rails 53 which are longitudinally adjustable in bearings 54 secured to the ends of the feed bar 48. The rock drill 49, together with its ram 59, may be removed after the release of a pin, and be used as a hand-held unit. In a modification, the ends of each transverse support are connected to sleeves which move on separate standards, each support being raised or lowered by its own chain-and-sprocket drive. Collapsible platforms may be fitted to the sides of the rig.
