Abstract

936,402. Oscillographs. ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE. Jan. 8, 1960 [Feb. 10, 1959], No. 800/60. Class 37. [Also in Group XIX] Two electrical quantities, the functional relationship of which is required, are fed to respective galvanometers 1, 2, the moving spindles 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP> of which are mutually perpendicular and actuate a " Cardan " mounted mirror 5, which reflects a ray of light from a fixed source on to a screen. The mirror is fixed to a spindle 4 journalled in the arms of a fork 3 integral with the spindle 1<SP>1</SP>, and spindle 4 being axially rotated by the spindle 2<SP>1</SP> to which it is connected by a crank, one radial arm 6 of which is secured to the spindle 2<SP>1</SP> the other arm 7 being slotted longitudinally to accept a rod 8 fixed in parallel relationship to the spindle 4 by arms 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP>. The radial arm 6 is equal in length to the perpendicular distance between the spindle 4 and rod 8 and it is shown in the Specification that for small angular displacements movement of the spindle 2<SP>1</SP> causes an equal angular movement of the mirror 5 about the axis 4. The correlated variation of the two electrical quantities is sufficiently slow as to enable successive positions of the light spot on the screen to be marked in chalk to provide a permanent record of the trace.
