936,220. Photographic flashlight apparatus. A. FISCHER. Dec. 18, 1961 [Dec. 27, 1960], No. 45334/61. Class 9 (2). A photographic flashlight apparatus comprises a unit 1, which houses a capless bulb 11 and its associated electrical components, and a reflector unit 5 which slidably engages the housing unit. The end 10b of a lever 10, which normally projects through a slot 12, maintains the units in the position shown, but when caused to telescope together, portion 13 of the reflector unit 5 forces end 10b downwardly, lever 10 pivoting about a pin 9 and end 10a ejecting the bulb 11. The top wall of the reflector unit 5 is constituted by a flap 7 hinged at 8 and allows for removal and replacement of flashbulbs. While the units are telescoped together a groove 14 in the rear wall 14a permits lever 10 to regain the position shown, but on extending the apparatus to the operative position, portion 13 forces end 10b upwardly and end 10a moves against the action of a spring 15 to be later returned thereby into contact with the base of the bulb. A foot 2 is provided for attachment of the apparatus to a camera and flap 7 may be automatically closed by a hairpin spring or only free to open to such a position that it can fall to the closed position under its own weight. Some of the electrical components may be contained in the reflector unit 5.
