Abstract

Wire is coated with a polymer of a C2 to C10 a -mono-olefine is stabilized with a composition of a diester of 3,31-thiodipropionic acid having the formula <FORM:0935774/III/1> wherein R is alkyl of at least 4 carbon atoms, and a phenothiazine <FORM:0935774/III/2> wherein R1 is H or C1 to C18 alkyl. The polymer may be derived from ethylene and/or propylene, methyl butene, dimethyl butene, pentene, methyl-pentene, octene or decene. Exemplified stabiizers are dilauryl, distearyl and dioctyl thiodipropionates, and phenothiazine, N-ethyl, N-lauryl and N-stearyl phenothiazines.ALSO:A polymer of a C2 to C10 #c-mono-olefine is stabilized with a composition of a diester of 3,31-thiodipropionic acid having the formula <FORM:0935774/IV(a)/1> wherein R is alkyl of at least 4 carbon atoms, and a phenothiazine <FORM:0935774/IV(a)/2> wherein R1 is H or C1 to C18 alkyl. The polymer may be derived from ethylene and/or propylene, methyl butene, dimethyl butene, pentene, methyl pentene, octene or decene. Exemplified stabilizers are dilauryl, distearyl and dioctyl thiodipropionates, and phenothiazine, N-ethyl, N-lauryl and N-stearyl phenothiazines. The products find application as sheet, rods, tubes, pipes, and films and as coatings on paper, wire, metal foil, glass fibre fabrics, and synthetic or natural textiles or fabrics.
