Abstract

934,976. Seats. STEELE'S FURNITURE (LONDON) Ltd. July 16, 1962, No. 27161/62. Class 52 (2). A vertical seat supporting spindle 3 is slidable in a tubular base 1 having a flange 2. Encircling the spindle is a ring 4 having a lateral extension 5 formed on its underside with a beading 6 which rests on the flange 2, thereby tilting the ring. The aperture in the ring is of such diameter that when the ring is tilted diametrically opposite points 7, 8 on the ring bear on the spindle 3 to prevent its descent through the ring. A tongue 9 is provided for releasing the locking action of the ring 9. A spring may be provided to bias the ring towards its tilting position.
