934,694. Photolithographic printing plates and supports therefor. KODAK Ltd. Nov. 27, 1959 [Aug. 29, 1958; June 5, 1959 (2)], Nos. 40344/59, 40345/59 and 40346/59. Divided out of 934,691. Class 98 (2). A silver image is formed on a metal support, the surface of which has been grained, anodized or converted to a compound of the metal to render it hydrophilic preferably without the use of a colloidal binder by the silver salt diffusion process in the presence of an organic compound containing in the molecule a strongly oleophilic group and another group which has an affinity for silver and becomes integrated to the silver image but not to the metal or metalcompound surface, to produce the printing plate. In Example 1 a washed and diluted Carey Lea silver sol is applied to an anodized aluminium sheet, the image is transferred thereto from a high contrast chloride emulsion using 1 - hexyl - 1,2,4,5 - tetrahydro - 1,3,5 - triazene- 4-thiol in the transfer-developer and is wiped over with gum arabic before inking. Example 2 uses similarly the corresponding 1-octyl triazine derivative, and Example 3 describes the coating of anodized aluminium with a solution of hypo and potassium octyl xanthate for image transfer without the use of nuclei.
