A rotary machine for printing tickets comprises a magazine 49 positioned such that the first ticket of the pile is substantially tangential to the cylindrical surface of the rotary drum 6 of the machine, a gripper 102 carried by the drum for seizing the ticket, means for moving the magazine toward the drum, so that the first ticket moves substantially in its own plane at approximately the peripheral speed of the drum, when the gripper is in front of it, means for separating the first ticket from the pile and presenting it to the gripper at the appropriate moment, and means for closing the gripper as soon as the ticket is engaged in it and opening it after printing in order to free the ticket. Pile tables and supports.-Tickets are supported on edge in the magazine 49, which comprises top, bottom, front and side plates 53, 52, 51 and 54, respectively. The magazine pivots about a shaft 57 and is oscillated towards and away from the drum 6 by pivoted levers 84, 85 actuated by a cam 82 through a follower 83. The lever 85 is pivoted at 87 on a lug 88 integral with the magazine 49. Separators.-A hollow shutter pivotally mounted on the upper edge of the front wall 51 and apertured on its inner face, is connected to a source of suction, whereby the first ticket is separated from the pile. The shutter is triangular in cross-section, Fig. 1a (not shown), and is oscillated by pivoted levers 72, 68 actuated by a cam 61 through a follower 66. The lever 72 is pivoted at 74 on a member 75, itself movable about the shaft 57 and having a forked wall engaging a roller mounted on a link integral with the axle which carries the shutter. Sheet carriers and forwarders; grippers.- The rotary drum 6 is provided with four sets of grippers 102. Each set of grippers is mounted on a shaft housed in a recess 104 in the surface of the drum. A roller is mounted on an extension at one end of the shaft and follows a fixed cam to open and close the grippers at the appropriate positions. Printing machines.-The printing cylinder 11 is carried between two arms 13, pivotally mounted on a shaft 14. A screw 24 mounted on the free end of one of the arms 13, bears against a fixed plate 25 to adjust the pressure of the printing cylinder on the rotary drum. An inking roller 17, supported by two levers 19 pivotable about an axle 21 carried by the arms 13, rests on the printing cylinder. The rotary drum, printing cylinder and inking roller are driven in synchronism by a motor 28 through intermeshing gear wheels. Delivering sheets.-The printed tickets are stacked on edge on an inclined table 115. An adjustable supporting plate 117 is provided.
