Abstract
Hydrogen halide is removed from silicic acid esters, prepared from alcohols and silicic acid halides, by incorporating into the ester a metal, or an alloy of a metal, of Group III, IV, VI or VIII of the Periodic System and removing the resulting metal halide and unchanged metal. Specified metals are iron dust, aluminium dust, shreds or chips of magnesium-aluminium alloy, and tin, nickel and chromium. The examples follow the procedure of the parent Specification.
