A pneumatic amplifier comprises a baffle plate 16, a nozzle 14 and a relay valve 1 comprising a supply chamber and three spaces 6, 7, 8 defined by two diaphragms 4, 5. A constant pressure air supply is fed to the relay valve the space 6 of which is connected to the output signal line, the space 7 to atmosphere and the space 8 to the nozzle 14. The nozzle back pressure is reflected in the space 8 to determine the position of the diaphragms and so position the double valve 10, 12 to determine whether the space 6 is connected to supply or to atmosphere. The nozzle is also connected to the output signal line by a pipe including a restriction 15, it may also, as shown, be connected to the supply line by a pipe including a restriction 17.
