Abstract

932,169. Electric selective signalling. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 27, 1961 [Dec. 16, 1960],.No. 43492/60. Class 40 (1). The invention provides a system for signalling between the winder house and the cage in a mine lift. At the transmitter, a recurring sequence of 7 pulses is obtained from a phasediscriminator transformer 6 having saturable cores, which is fed from a 3-phase supply. By virtue of diodes 10 the sequence appears as a 14-pulse cycle, alternate pulses having opposite polarity. Closure of certain of switches 11 causes a train of pulses having +, -, or zero polarity to be passed to the receiver. Units 13 reverse the sign of pulses fed to alternate coincidence gates 12 which are also supplied by a 14-pulse recurrent pulse train, this being derived by a transformer 14 similar to transformer 6 and supplied from the same source. Certain of units 12 will pulse, in correspondence with the closed switches 11. The outputs of units 12 are fed, via suitable delays, to a number of coincidence gates. According to the particular switches 11 which were closed one of the coincidence gates will give a control signal. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), communication in either direction is obtained, the pulse signals modulating an ultrasonic carrier-wave. Each transformer has an additional winding which serves to block the receiving units at the winder house or at the cage while data is being transmitted to the cage or to the winder house, respectively.
