A hand sanding block comprises a housing 1 within which is supported a roll of abrasive cloth or paper, an openable flap 2 for the insertion of the roll, and a slot 3 through which the paper or cloth may be drawn over the outer surface of the block, the roll being optionally supported by a spindle 4. The free end of the abrasive material is gripped against a ridge 8.
