Abstract

962,493. Closing envelopes. M. MYERS & SON Ltd. May 15, 1963 [May 21, 1962], No. 19406/62. Heading B8C. An apparatus for moistening the gum on the flap of an envelope and pressing it down to secure it comprises rollers 12 supplying water to the flap when passed beneath a guide surface 13 and clamping plates 15, 16 between which the envelope is pressed. The plates are hinged together at 17 and spring biased apart. Hand pressure on an extension 20 of the plate 16 pivots it about a rib 21 and a projection 23 causes the plate 15 to swing down towards it. A resilient pad 18 is provided.
