Abstract
930,793. Control of motors; controllers. OZONAIR ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and F. FLOYD. July 7, 1960 [July 8, 1959], No. 23506/59. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXVIII] A length of filter material is mounted on rolls one of which is associated with a take-up motor 17, a pressure switch 18 being opened due to a drop of pressure on the clean-air side of the filter when the filter material becomes dirty. Opening of switch 18 deenergizes relay 21 to close contacts 40, whereby contactor 35 closes to start the motor. A stop switch 25 for the motor is formed by contacts which are normally bridged by one of a number of short metal strips situated at regular intervals along the length of the filter material. The motor takes up a predetermined length of material, whereupon switch 25 closes to energize relay 23 and contacts 45 close to energize impulse relay 44. Relay 29 is then energized through contacts 47 to open contacts 42, de-energize contactor 35, and stop the motor. The contacts 42 are reset after a short period so that the control system is ready for the next cycle of operations to be initiated by switch 18. When the final length of filter material is reached and switch 18 is operated, the motor runs until a special contact strip on the material closes alarm switch 50 in series with relay 28. An alarm bell 30 is then actuated, and contactor 35 switches-off the motor. An inching button 43 is used during the re-loading process. A low-voltage section of the control circuit is supplied through step-down transformer 20. In an alternative arrangement, the arresting means comprises a long metal strip on the filter material having gaps for breaking the motor circuit.
