930,261. Load handling machines; engaging loads. KOVO-FINIS NARODNI PODNIK. Jan. 19, 1960 [Jan. 19, 1959], No. 1962/60. Classes 78 (1), 78 (3) and 78 (4). Apparatus for transferring batches of articles on a hanger 3 successively from one bath 10 to another in an electroplating plant, comprises a number of transfer stands A, B to each of which is pivoted an arm 1 on which is pivoted a hook 2 urged to the position shown in Fig. 2 by a spring-loaded pin 5; and an oppositely-acting spring 7 which is secured at its ends to the arm and to a member 8 which member is provided with a fork engaging a lug b on the hook. In operation, each arm 1 is swung, hydraulically, into position II where the hook 2 hits rod 13 of the hanger 3, and is deflected by its camming edge a to permit the hook 2 to snap behind rod 13. The arm is then swung about a horizontal axis to position III where the rod is deposited on a stand 9. During this movement of the arm the hook rotates relative to the arm thereby winding up spring 7 which, when the rod is deposited on the stand 9, unwinds and moves the hook to the dotted line position shown in Fig. 7 where it is ready to repeat the cycle of operations on the next oncoming hanger. The apparatus is controlled automatically by timing relays (not shown) which progress the hangers through the baths at a predetermined rate.
