Abstract

929,918. Microscopes for use with visible, Infra-red or ultra-violet light. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 6, 1961 [Oct. 6, 1960], No. 35998/61. Class 97 (1). The apparatus comprises a conventional microscope with objective 6 and eyepiece 8 and containing a prism 7 which is movable by external operation out of the light path so that a visible image of an object 5 illuminated by lamp 1 can be seen in the eyepiece 8. Alternatively prism 7 can be rotated so as to direct the visible image into a camera at 9. Further, by moving prism 7 into the light path and also inserting an infra-red filter 3, an infra-red image of the object 5 can be imaged by lenses 6 and 10 on to the photo-cathode 12 of an imageconverter 11 having a fluorescent screen 13. The screen image is relayed by a lens 14 via reflector 15 into an eyepiece 20. By pivoting reflector 15 a photograph may be taken in a camera 17. A power pack 19 supports all the equipment and supplies power for the lamp 1 and converter 11. Filter 3 may be replaced by an ultra-violet filter.
