Abstract

929,183. Automatic amplitude control. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 20, 1961 [Jan. 21, 1960], No. 2254/60. Addition to 873,786. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] An amplitude-modulated oscillator as in the parent Specification has means to limit the oscillator output, comprising a second feedback path connected through an amplitude detector to the base of a transistor having an emitter circuit common to one of the amplifier transistors of the oscillator but normally cut off except when the second feedback exceeds a certain value whereupon it becomes conductive to reduce the emitter voltage and gain of the associated transistor in correspondence with any rise in output of the oscillator. The second feedback path may also, through a further detector, bias conductively the modulator transistor acting as a switching impedance for the unidirectional modulation input to the oscillator. The output may be rectified so that the circuit is a D.C. amplifier.
