928,911. Pipe connections. A. STULZ. June 17, 1959 [Feb. 26, 1959; March 10, 1959; May 6, 1959], No. 20825/59. Class 99(1). Fin Fig 5 In a connection for two preferably circular tubular members made of relatively hard thermoplastic synthetic substance, such as polyvinyl chloride, the external dimension of the inner member is larger before interconnection, which is effected by driving one member into the other telescopically, than the corresponding internal dimension of the outer member, the tube walls are of substantially constant thickness, and the interconnection is effected by axial impact. As shown in Fig. 1, pipes 1, 2 have annular corrugations 3, 7 which interengage when the pipes are forcibly telescoped together; the end of the pipe 1 may be flared to facilitate connection of the pipes and the corrugations may project radially inwardly or outwardly of the pipes. In modifications, (a) the corrugations 20, 22, Fig. 5, are of saw-tooth configuration in axial section, (b) the corrugation 34 in the outer pipe 33, Fig. 7, is elongated so that the pipes are axially relatively displaceable or, alternatively, the corrugation in the inner pipe is elongated, (c) the ends of the pipes, Fig. 9, are. partspherical in form to provide for relative universal movement, or are of enlarged, rectangular shape to form a knuckle joint, and (d) the pipes are formed with co-operating frusto-conical portions 71, 76, Fig. 15.
