Abstract

Monomeric epoxides are polymerized in the presence of a trialkoxyaluminoxole of formula: <FORM:0928845/IV(a)/1> in which R is an alkyl radical of not more than four carbon atoms. At least one FriedelCrafts halide may be mixed with the aluminoxole. The preferred aluminoxole is triisopropoxyaluminoxole. The epoxy compound may be epichlorhydrin, ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, styrene oxide, cyclohexene oxide or mixtures thereof. Many Friedel-Crafts halides are specified. The products from alkylene oxides are soluble in benzene and ethylene dichloride. Examples are given.
