Abstract

928,529. Blow-moulding hollow articles. FEMCO ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 11, 1961 [July 27, 1960], No. 26117/60. Class 87(2). Polyethylene bottles are moulded by, forming a parison, by injecting pre-plasticized material between preform die halves 52, 53 and a parison rod 39, opening the die halves 52, 53, lowering the parison rod 39 and parison into position between two halves 19, 20 of a blow mould, closing these, blowing the preform to shape by passing air through a passage and valve 72, 73, in the parison rod 39, (see Fig. 2 not shown), opening the die halves 19, 20 and blowing the moulded article clear. Instead of injection moulding a parison a thermoplastic tube can be extruded to fit over a blow mandrel 56 in the blow mould 19, 20, (see Fig. 3 not shown). Several blow mould halves 19, 20 which are opened and closed by a toggle mechanism are placed on a rotatable table 10 driven by a Geneva mechanism so that they come in turn beneath the preforming means, and are opened radially of the table 10.
