Abstract
928,215. Optical viewing devices. OPTISCHE INDUSTRIE DE OUDE DELFT N.V. Nov. 22, 1961 [Nov. 22, 1960], No. 41795/61. Class 97 (1). A device, such as an infra-red telescope, comprises an electronic image amplifier tube 3 and a binocular microscope for viewing the fluorescent image screen 5, this microscope having a single objective 6 with a relative aperture of at least 1: 1 and its focal surface coincident with screen 5, two lenses 7 with parallel axes and an absolute aperture about half that of the objective 6, two eyepieces 10 spaced by the interocular distance and means (e.g. Porro prisms of the second type) to span the light beams from lenses 7 by the interocular distance. The overall magnification of the viewing system is preferably between 10x and 20x, the system having an exit pupil larger than the diameter of the dark-adapted eye.
