Abstract
928,100. Casting-machines. DIE CASTING MACHINE TOOLS Ltd., and A. R. MILLS. April 3, 1962 [April 6, 1961], No. 12392/61. Class 83 (1). In a pressure die casting machine evacuation of the die cavity is effected in conjunction with the injection operation, whereby a piston 22 within cylinder 23 is controlled for injection and return movements of plunger 21, to which it is attached, by admission of a pressure medium via pipe 24 and valve 25 alternately to each side of the piston 22. Connected to cylinder 23 is a pressure responsive switch 30 so that when a given pressure is reached within cylinder 23 to promote a downward injection movement of the plunger 21, this same pressure closes contacts 32, 33 within switch 30 which then energizes a solenoid coil 35 of a valve 29 which lifts movable valve member 36 from its seating which permits the evacuation of the die cavities by extraction pump 28 via reservoir 27. At the end of the injection stroke of the plunger, pressure is applied to the other side of piston 22 to return said piston to its original position. This creates a pressure drop in relation to the switch 30 which breaks contact and permits the closure of the valve 29 to cut off the die evacuating means.
