Abstract

A composition suitable for the treatment of textile fabrics comprises 75-25 parts by weight of an N,N1 dimethylol uron dialkyl ether having the formula <FORM:0927166/IV(a)/1> in which R3 and R4 are alkyl radicals containing 1-4 carbon atoms and 25-75 parts by weight of a triazone having the formula <FORM:0927166/IV(a)/2> in which R is a hydroxy alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl radical and R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl radicals containing 1-4 carbon atoms. The composition which may be applied to the fabrics as an aqueous solution may also contain binders, dyes, pigments, flame retardants, softeners, moth- and mildew proofing agents, wet strength improvers, insecticides, germicides and disinfectants. After treatment with the composition the fabrics may be dried at 70 DEG -120 DEG C. and then cured at 140 DEG -180 DEG C. for 2-6 minutes, curing catalysts, e.g. acidified zinc nitrate, preferably being included in the composition.ALSO:Textile fabrics are rendered wrinkle resistant without substantially decreasing their strength and without developing objectionable odours therein by treating them with a composition comprising 75-25 parts by weight of an N,N1 dimethyloluron dialkyl ether having the formula <FORM:0927166/IV(a)/1> in which R3 and R4 are alkyl radicals containing 1-4 carbon atoms and 25-75 parts by weight of a triazone having the formula <FORM:0927166/IV(a)/2> in which R is a hydroxy alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl radical and R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl radicals containing 1-4 carbon atoms and then reacting the composition in situ with the fabrics. The composition is preferably applied to the fabric as an aqueous solution although other solvents may be used. The solution preferably contains 1-20% solids by weight and 1-18% solids by weight are preferably applied to the fabric. The composition may also contain binders, dyes, pigments, flame retardents, softeners, moth- and mildew proofing agents, wet strength improvers, insecticides, germicides and disinfectants. After treatment with the composition the fabric may be dried at 70 DEG -120 DEG C. and then cured at 140 DEG -180 DEG C. for 2-6 minutes, curing catalysts, e.g. acidified zinc nitrate, preferably being included in the composition. Fabrics containing natural cellulosic fibres, e.g. cotton, flax, hemp, sisal and jute and regenerated cellulose fibres obtained by the viscose, cuprammonium or saponification methods alone or blended with polyamide, polyester, acrylic or vinyl fibres may be treated.
