Abstract

Analgesic compositions for oral administration comprise a solid carrier and 3,4-dimethylbenzamide. Optionally there may be present other analgesics, e.g. salicylates, e.g. sodium salicylate and aspirin, acetanilide and its derivatives, e.g. phenacetin and N-acetyl-p-aminophenol and analgesic narcotics related to opium, e.g. codeine, morphine and meperidine. Dosage forms may contain from 0.25 to 0.5 grams of the essential active compound. Exemplary compositions also comprise caffeine.
