Abstract

A process of treating a sheet of cellular urethane foam to eliminate membranes between cells, comprises the steps of applying pressure to the sheet to rupture the membranes, thereafter immersing the sheet in an alkaline solution containing 3 to 40% by weight of alkali to remove the ruptured membranes, and finally rinsing the sheet in a neutralizing solution. The pressure may be applied by passing the sheet between crushing rolls. Specification 789,481 is referred to.ALSO:A process of treating a sheet of cellular urethane foam to eliminate membranes between cells, comprises the steps of applying pressure to the sheet to rupture the membranes thereafter immersing the sheet in an alkaline solution containing 3 to 40% by weight of alkali to remove the ruptured membrane, and finally rinsing the sheet in a neutralizing solution. The pressure may be applied by passing the sheet between crushing rolls. Specification 789,481 is referred to.
