Abstract
924,765. Measuring pressure electrically. MINISTER OF AVIATION. Feb. 22, 1962 [March 10, 1961], No. 8827/61. Class 40 (1). Inertial forces acting on a pressure-responsive member 20 of relatively low density, are substantially cancelled when the body 11 of a pressure-responsive instrument is accelerated in either sense in the direction of member movement, the annular responsive member 20 being supported in a liquid 17 of relatively high density by the common closed end 14 of two extensible tubular members 18, 19, or two parts of a single such member. Gas or liquid pressure applied through connection 22 acts on the closed end 14 of the chamber 18 and thus causes slider 26 insulatedly mounted on the end member 14 to move relatively to a potentiometer resistor 23 mounted on the instrument case 11. Alternatively, the chambers 18, 19 may be differentially connected to separate pressure sources. The open ends 15, 16 of members 18, 19 are sealed on to the casing 11, so that when the instrument is accelerated in the direction movement of member 14, then the body 20 and member 14 tend to move in opposite directions so that the effect of acceleration on the composite component is substantially eliminated. Specification 899,494 is referred to.
