Abstract

924,175. Making paint-scrapers. L. G. HARRIS & CO. Ltd. Feb. 14, 1962 [Nov. 14, 1960], No. 39105/60. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXIII] The head of a paintscraper is made from a flat steel blank of isosceles triangular shape by shaving off one corner 5 of the blank to reduce the length of the sides to the length of the base, piercing the blank to form a hole and a slot which extends from the hole to the corner 5 of the blank, remote from the base, weakening the blank along two straight lines extending from the hole to the ends of the base and then subjecting the blank to a pressing or equivalent operation which dishes the blank by bending the material about the weakened lines and closes the slot. A cleat 9 which spans the abutting edges of the closed slot is riveted to the inner face of the head. One end of a handle is secured within the holes in the apex of the head. The free edges of the head may be sharpened by rubbing the open base on a stone or equivalent grinding medium.
