Abstract

924,149. Cooling towers. DAVENPORT ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 21, 1960 [June 30, 1959], No. 22339/59. Class 64 (1). A cooling tower is provided with grid or packing units, each consisting of a plurality of corrugated members 2 and of flat members arranged or secured together on alternate relationship to form a stack, a flat member lying between two corrugated members. The members 2 and 3 are arranged in grid units which are superimposed in tiers on other units. The grid units of one tier being arranged in the vertical plane to lie at right-angles to the units of the next tier. Members 2 and 3 can be stacked with or without the aid of bolts. The corrugations can be disposed with some horizontal and others running at right-angles, i.e. vertically. Some units project above the others, thus serving as supports.
