[Also in Group XL (b)] A television camera 11, Fig. 1, is mounted within a housing comprising a plurality of concentric cylindrical elements 1-3 which define a plurality of cylindrical chambers surrounding the camera, the elements each having a row of apertures 7, 8, 9 extending in a line parallel to the axis of the housing with the apertures in successive elements disposed in diametrically opposite positions, whereby a cooling gas supplied to the camera body by way of the inner tube of a hose assembly 12 passes around each chamber in turn from the inner to the outer as indicated more fully in Fig. 2. When the gas reaches the outer chamber it passes out of housing either to the atmosphere or through apertures 10 communicating with an outer return tube 13 of the hose. Gas may be allowed to escape to the atmosphere, at an appropriate point in the gas circuit in accordance with temperature requirements, via suitable vents directed to blow the gas on to attachments fitted to the camera. The cylindrical elements may be made of stainless steel or heat-insulating material. One or more layers of heat-insulating material may be incorporated in the housing as buffer stages. The housing may be enclosed in heat-insulating material. The hose assembly may be constructed as described in Specification 923,816. Specification 923,818 also is referred to.
