Abstract

Organohydrogenpolysiloxanes are made by reacting, at temperatures between 0 DEG and 150 DEG C., hydrocarbon siloxanes and siloxanes having organo-monohydrogen-siloxane units in the presence of a cation exchanger of the phyllo- and inosilicate type, i.e. with a crystal lattice with a leaf-like or cord-like structure which is capable of undergoing sorption and exchange reactions in the interior of the crystals, e.g. acid-activated bleaching earth, calcium and sodium bentonites and atapulgite. In a typical example (1) a mixture of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, tetramethyldisiloxane and an acid-activated bleaching] earth is stirred at 50 DEG C. for five hours to yield an a -o -bis(dimethylhydrogen-siloxy)-polydimethylsiloxane oil.
