Abstract
921,831. Dispensing rod-like articles. K. KÍRBER. Sept. 12, 1960 [Dec. 22, 1959], No. 31334/60. Class 78 (1). A device whereby cigarettes Z or like articles contained in a tray 48 may be dispensed into a magazine 4 consists of a tray holder such as the angle frame 25, means for raising and inverting the holder to a discharging position above the magazine, and a slidable tray cover 28 carried by the holder, the cover being automatically suddenly removed from the tray on the attainment of the holder's discharging position and automatically returned to close the tray during the holder's subsequent lowering. The cover 28 is fitted with pins 27, 29 which slide in a slot in a plate 9 carried by the holder, the pin 27 also sliding in a slot 26 in a lever 17 which is pivoted to the plate 9 at 16. The lever 17 is normally prevented from turning by the engagement of a pawl 39 carried thereby with a notch 40 in one arm of a lever 41 pivoted to the plate 9 at 44. From the initial position (Fig. 1), the holder is raised by turning about fixed pivot 8 and, as the discharging position is approached, the end 49 of cover 28 strikes a lever 33 mounted on a pivot axis 34 fixed above the magazine. The pawl 39 and notch 40 holding the cover closed, the holder continues to move against the spring 35, biasing the lever 33, until the end 42 of lever 41 strikes stop 43. When this occurs, lever 17 is released and a spring 20, assisted by the spring 35, quickly opens the cover 28. During lowering, a roller 14 whose axis is fixed closes the cover and springs 35 and 46 act on levers 33 and 41 respectively to reset the pawl 39 in its notch 40.
