In a trawler of the kind in which the net is hauled from the rear along a hoisting ramp 2 towards a longitudinal handling and discharging zone 1 for the fish contained in the pocket 7 of the net, there is provided means for lifting and advancing the pocket of the net along to the zone 1 comprising a gripping element 9, disposed in a slot 10 near the top of the ramp, to which ropes 11 and 12 are connected. The ropes 11 and 12 pass over pulleys 13 and 14 on the cranes 3 and 4 to winches 15 and 16 which move the pocket 7 to the positions indicated by chain-dotted lines.
