920,894. Propelling aircraft. DORNIERWERKE G.m.b.H. June 13, 1961 [July 16, 1960; Aug. 20, 1960], No. 21240/61. Class 4. A power plant installation in an aircraft comprises a pair of engines 3 each separately connected through gearing and a freewheel device 4 to drive a continuous spanwise shaft 2 upon which are mounted transverse flow blowers 1 located symmetrically on both sides of the aircraft within the wing profile. The air outlet opening associated with each blower is provided with a flap 5, the flaps being pivotally interconnected by a shaft 6 connected by linkage 9 to a flap-adjusting mechanism 7, whereby lift and propulsive thrust may be regulated. There may be more than one pair of blowers and engines.
