Abstract

919,690. Power measurement. TAVOZLESI KUTOTO INTEZET. Dec. 19, 1961, No. 45478/61. Class 37. Microwave power from a waveguide is coupled to a rectangular hollow conductor 1 with matching stubs 2, 3 extending into a closed duct loop of rectangular cross-section immersed in a water-bath and closed from the atmosphere by an insulating foil 4 allowing passage of microwave energy, which is constrained by parallel fins 5 shown in section CD to pass through insulating plate 6 coated with a metal film, in which the microwave energy is transformed to heat and transferred to the contained air. The latter rises through parallel fins 7 (section AB) excluding microwave energy and the current deflects paddles 8, 9 suspended from torsion head 12. Suspended mirror 11 co-operates with telescope 13 and scale 14 to produce an indication of air flow, and the air current returns to its starting point, through the duct loop, during which it is cooled so that the rate of circulation represents heat generation and thus microwave power dissipated is shown by the mirror and scale. D.C. may be introduced to the element 6 for calibration.
